Health Testing
At Altussi, the health, conformation, temperament, and longevity of our Australian Shepherds are our highest priorities. Every dog in our breeding program is thoroughly health tested before being mated. Our dogs undergo comprehensive genetic screening for breed-specific conditions such as MDR1, PRA-prcd, HSF4 (Hereditary Cataracts), DM (Degenerative Myelopathy), and CEA (Collie Eye Anomaly). In addition, all breeding dogs receive BVA evaluations to ensure sound hips and elbows, as well as annual eye exams performed by a certified Veterinary Ophthalmologist.

We breed dogs that meet or exceed these health standards and exhibit stable, intelligent, and loyal temperament that defines the Australian Shepherd breed. Through careful testing and selective breeding, we are dedicated to producing healthy, well-rounded Aussies that excel as companions, competitors and working partners.

At Altussi, our relationship with our puppy families doesn't end when a puppy goes home - it truly begins. We take great pride in building lasting connections with each owner who becomes a part of our extended Altussi family. From the moment you reach out to us, we're here to guide and support you through every step of the journey - from selecting the right puppy for your lifestyle with you, to providing ongoing advice on training, heath, nutrition and care.

We believe that raising an Australian Shepherd is a lifelong commitment, and we are always just a message away for our families. Many of our puppy owners stay in touch for the whole of their dogs life, sharing updates, photos, and stories or their dogs' adventures. These relationships mean the world to us and our dedication not to just producing exeptional dogs, but to creating a community built on trust, transparancy, and a shared love for an incredible breed.
